Water damage and an insurance estimate that seems incomplete
A water claim may involve the source of the water, several affected materials, emergency drying and repair work documented at different times. The first step is to organize those observations and records so the concern is specific.
Under Paid Claim LLC provides property claim help for homeowners and businesses in McAllen, Mission, Edinburg and the Rio Grande Valley. Our free inspection and review can help explain what the available damage records and insurer estimate show. We provide public adjusting, not plumbing, cleanup or restoration.
Keep the water source and repair scope separate
A sudden plumbing leak, rain intrusion and surface flooding are different circumstances. Policy wording, cause and available evidence matter. Identifying affected walls or floors does not by itself establish that every cost is covered or which policy applies. If a dispute requires legal interpretation, seek appropriate legal advice.
Connect the records to the affected material
- Photographs and dates for the room, ceiling, wall, flooring or other area.
- Reports identifying the observed water source and any completed repair.
- Available moisture observations, drying logs and mitigation records.
- Removal and repair proposals describing quantities and materials.
- The latest insurer estimate, payment record and written explanations.
Keep earlier records when cleanup changes what can be inspected. Arrange access through the owner or authorized contact. Safety and necessary protective work should not wait for our review; use qualified providers for hazardous conditions or specialized work.

How our claim review works
We discuss the concern, inspect relevant accessible conditions and compare the available evidence with the estimate and payment record. If supported differences warrant representation and you retain us, we prepare the documentation and estimate and present the claim information to the insurer. We also explain when the reviewed information supports the insurer’s payment.
A fictional example of an omitted repair item
Imagine a file with an allowance to repaint a ceiling and photographs showing an additional affected material. A review would identify that material, the available evidence and proposed work before deciding whether the estimate needs another look. It would not assume that a photograph alone establishes coverage. This is a fictional explanation, not a client case.

Questions about water damage claims
Why does the source of the water matter?
A plumbing leak, rain entering through a damaged roof and surface flooding may involve different coverage terms or policies. Keep records showing where water appeared, when it was discovered and what inspection or repair findings identify the source. We do not assume that every water loss is covered.
Can a ceiling stain show the full extent of water damage?
A stain records a visible condition, but it does not by itself establish the source or the full repair scope. Relevant inspection findings, photographs and appropriately obtained moisture or repair records may help explain affected materials. Unsafe or concealed areas may require a separately qualified provider.
What records should I keep from water extraction and drying?
Keep dated photographs, mitigation estimates and invoices, equipment and drying logs where available, and reports describing affected areas. Connect those records to the correct room or building and explain any removed materials. Submit documents through the channel agreed with the insurer or your representative.
What if the estimate leaves out damaged insulation or flooring?
Identify the material and location, preserve available photographs or reports, and compare the proposed repair scope. The question is whether the evidence and policy support including that work, not simply whether one estimate has a larger total.
Can you review a water claim after cleanup has started?
Yes, start with the available records and explain what has been removed or repaired. Earlier photographs, reports and invoices may clarify conditions no longer visible. The adequacy of those records and the claim circumstances determine what further review can address.
Do you perform water extraction or restoration?
No. Under Paid Claim provides public adjusting. Cleanup, plumbing, restoration and repairs are performed by separately qualified providers. We review the property documentation, estimates and payment information and, when retained, present supported claim concerns to the insurer.
Start with a free inspection and claim review
Our initial property inspection and claim review are free. If the records and inspection support the insurer’s payment, we will explain that finding at no cost to you. We do not assume every claim is underpaid.
Request a free claim review or call 956-772-4404. Tell us the property city or ZIP code and the concern. Assistance is available in English and Spanish.
If you retain us, our fee is 10% of new money received, with no fee on payments received before you hire us and no additional expenses. If no new money is received, no fee is due. Representation begins through a written agreement.
